Consider the fact Sony own one of the largest film libraries with their acquisition of MGM and its clear that Blu-ray isnt going anywhere for as long as Sony are willing to back the format. It had a healthy lifespan and for a 5 years was a popular format with many companies backing it. Yes there HD-MD died a sorry death but MD in its previous guises no way.
